2 Kings 4:42-44; Psalm 145 (144); Ephesians 4:1-6; John 6:1-15

Before we celebrate the sacrament of the Bread of Life, let us join our hearts in prayer for our human family:

That we may willingly and joyfully share our bread with the poor and hungry: let us pray to the Lord.

That Christian Churches and communities may celebrate their common identity in the “one Lord, on faith, one baptism”: let us pray to the Lord.

That families, tribes, peoples, and races may find unity, understanding, and trust in the “God and Father of all”: let us pray to the Lord.

That a spirit of justice and thanksgiving may guide the work of all farmers, food producers and transporters, economists and agriculturalists: let us pray to the lord.

That the poor, the homeless, and the forgotten may find places of welcome at our tables: let us pray to the Lord.

That those who have died in Christ [especially _________], may celebrate forever at the banquet of heaven: let us pray to the Lord.

That God will hear the prayers we now offer in the silence of our hearts [Pause...]: let us pray to the Lord.

Gracious God, Giver of every harvest, hear the prayers we make as we gather around our Eucharistic table. May the bread and wine of your Son’s Body and Blood make us bread of compassion and kindness and wine of gladness and hope for one another. We ask this in the name of Jesus, the Bread of Life.

Let us now lift our spirits and voices in prayer to the Lord, our Shepherd and Teacher:

For our Church and parish community, that we may be a gathering place for the “remnant” from all lands and peoples: let us pray to the Lord.

For Pope N., Bishop N., Father N., for our bishops, priests, and ministers, and for all who serve the Church, that they may shepherd the people of God with faithfulness and compassion: let us pray to the Lord.

For our President and governor and for all legislators and judges, that their government service may advance the causes of peace and justice: let us pray to the Lord.

For families and households, that the barriers of anger and division may be broken down through understanding and forgiveness: let us pray to the lord.

For the poor, the oppressed, and the broker that, through our compassionate help, their fear and anguish may be transformed: let us pray to the Lord.

For our deceased relatives and friends [especially _________], that they may dwell forever in the house of Christ: let us pray to the Lord.

For the prayers we now make in the silence of our hearts [Pause...]: let us pray to the Lord.

Lord God, hear the prayers we offer to you for our Church and our human family. May our community become a place of prayer that refreshes and sustains us may our ministers be places where your love and justice are reverse may our table be a place of welcome and nourishment for all We make these prayers in the name of your Son.

Let us now join our hearts and voices in prayer for all who journey with us to the kingdom of God:

That the grace of God may bind our Church and parish into a company of faithful disciples of Jesus: let us pray to the Lord.

That our bishops, priests, and teachers may prophesy to all people “the glad tidings of salvation”: let us pray to the Lord.

That the peoples and nations of the world may work together to cast out of the human family hunger, materialism, prejudice, and injustice: let us pray to the Lord.

That we may hear the voices of the prophets among us who call us to transform our world and renew our hearts in “the Word of truth”: let us pray to the lord.

That the sick and the dying, the poor and homeless, the addicted and lost, may find, in our help and compassion, the restoring love of Christ the Healer: let us pray to the Lord.

That those who have died in the peace of Christ [especially _________], may inherit God’s promise of life in the Resurrection: let us pray to the Lord.

That God will hear the prayers we now offer in the silence of our hearts [Pause...]: let us pray to the Lord.

Hear our prayers, O Lord, and be with us on our journey. May your peace guide our steps and hope light our way as we journey through life to the joy of your kingdom, where you live and reign for ever and ever.
