In joyful expectation of the day of Christ Jesus to come, let us pray:

That in our parish’s prayer and work together we may create a highway for our God: let us pray to the Lord.

That our bishops, priests, and deacons and all who serve and minister to the Church may be heralds of God’s presence among us: let us pray to the Lord.

That those in government and public service may be instruments of the mercy and justice of God: let us pray to the Lord.

That the Churches of Christendom may be “rich in the harvest of justice”: let us pray to the lord.

That those who have been displaced from their homes by war, famine, disease, or disaster may return in joy and safety to their families: let us pray to the Lord.

That the poor, the struggling, and those who have lost hope may, through our compassionate help and support, remove their “robe of mourning and misery” and put on the hope and peace of the Messiah: let us pray to the Lord.

That those who have died [especially _________] may rejoice forever in the city of God: let us pray to the Lord.

That God, in mercy and peace, will hear the prayers we now make in the silence of our hearts [Pause...]: let us pray to the Lord.

Lord God, hear the prayers of your people who anxiously await your coming. Help us to straighten the crooked roads of our lives so that we might create a highway for you to enter our homes and hearts with the peace of Christ Jesus, your Son, in whose name we offer you these prayers.

Let us begin this season of hope and expectation with hearts and voices raised in prayer to “the Lord or justice”:

That our parish community may “overflow” with the love of Christ for one another and for all: let us pray to the Lord.

That all nations and peoples may dwell secure in the peace and justice of God: let us pray to the Lord.

That this Advent season may be a time, not for mindless consumerism, but for the renewal and re-creation of human hearts: let us pray to the Lord.

That families in crisis and those who are separated and estranged from one another may rediscover love and faithfulness in this season of light and hope: let us pray to the lord.

That the sick and the dying may be strengthened by our prayer and compassion for them: let us pray to the Lord.

That Christ will bring into his Father’s presence the souls of all our deceased relatives and friends [especially _________]: let us pray to the Lord.

That God will grant in kindness and mercy the prayers we now make in the silence of our hearts [Pause...]: let us pray to the Lord.

Come, O Lord, and redeem us. Heal us with your peace, teach us in your ways of justice and mercy, and re-create us in your love. We ask this in the name of your Son, our Lord Jesus Christ.

In joyful hope, let us come together in prayer before Jesus, our King and Redeemer:

That our Church and parish community may be a faithful witness to the love and mercy of our heavenly Father: let us pray to the Lord.

That Pope N., Bishop N., Father N., and all who serve the Church may embrace Christ’s priesthood of loving and humble service: let us pray to the Lord.

That the nations and peoples of the world may serve one another in the justice and peace of God’s reign: let us pray to the Lord.

That we may proclaim the great mystery of God’s love through our compassion and charity to the poor, the homeless, and the abandoned: let us pray to the lord.

That the sick, the dying, and the recovering may be blessed by God with hope and “length of days”: let us pray to the Lord.

That the victorious Christ will gather into the kingdom of his Father the souls of all who have died [especially _________]: let us pray to the Lord.

That God will hear the prayers we now offer in the silence of our hearts [Pause...]: let us pray to the Lord.

We praise you, O God, you who are Lord of creation and Ruler of all nations. Hear the prayers we offer in joyful hope until the coming of our Messiah and King, our Lord Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit as the one God, for ever and ever.
